Pics of Grampa's Truck...

Finally have some pics to share, please forgive the crappy camera... This truck was originally bought by my grandfather new in 1970. Its a stock two wheel drive 1971 Chevy C10 Stepside with a 307V8. I have had it for the last 8 years or so and have slowly restored some pieces. Still have a list of things to do... Its my daily driver with 240k miles.

That is one clean truck. I got mine from Grandpa also back in 1991. Keep up the good work. You'll have a heck of a story to tell the grandkids one day when THEY get it.

so what are your future plans? It looks pretty damn good to me as it is, I'd just put some different wheels and tires on it, and pretty much be done.

My exhaust and muffler needs to be replaced. Its dented, rusted, and busted.
I am thinking about going from single to dual, and _maybe_ put in headers.

The driver side door is still a little tricky to close and lock, I have rebuilt it
once and I need to pull it apart and re-align it again.

Yeah, the wheels are pretty ugly... Need new wheels, probably rallys with the
bolt-on looking caps. Was thinking about going a little wider with 15x8's.
Almost bought a set off of someone on this board, but I took to long and
someone else snatched them up.

I would also like to install a swaybar up front, and replace the shocks. They
feel pretty warn out.

And I need to finish the sound system. I installed a new radio in the glove
box that had a wired remote that perfectly mounts inside the ashtray.
Pretty Cool. The radio was actually designed for a boat. But I still need
good speakers.

Its fun!

Clean, unmolested trucks are just so refreshing. Now, bag it, cut out the inners, bolt on some billet 22s, and paint it red! J/K, great truck you have there

I love it! Thats right Putter, you have your Grampa's also. I was not as fortunate, but remember going with my dad & Grandfather to George Miller Chevrolet in April 1971 to pick up his new 71 Cheyenne Super-10 ( Mariner blue, I think ), and consider it the catalyst for my love of these trucks. Great story!
Briefly my buddy's Gramp bought a new 70 C-10 ( Med. green w/ white top), and had it also when we were growing up. His older brother got in when Gramps couldnt drive w/o ps any longer. He sold it to me on a whim. I drove it as a daily driver for 5 years, and when his Grandpa passed his wife ask me if i would consider selling it to him since his brother sort of bypassed him when I bought it. I did, and he still drives it to his Grandparents home to maintain there property. I guess I was just the torch passer, but damn glad I did it. I think I gave $200.00 for it with 79k original miles. Where did those deals go?

Nice lookin' truck farside, and pretty cool that your grandpa was the original owner. All the more reason to give it some good ol' TLC.

You guys are lucky... This is the truck I was handed down from my grandad. It was originally a Termite and Pest Control route truck. He bought it in '77 or '78 and drove it until last year. The original bed was rusted out by the termite chemicals and he changed it out about 25 years ago and never got around to having it painted. He drove it about 60 miles round trip to work for about 15 years. It has around 320,000 miles it and has never had the bottom end rebuilt. I guess we can what we want about F*rds, but that ol' 240 straight six is a tough old engine. It rattles like its going to come apart in the morning, but it runs like a sewing machine when it warms up. I use it for junk yard runs, and to go get big boxes to ship my Ebay stuff. It's actually very good on gas, and is probably the smoothest riding truck I own!!
