Also the inner wheel tubs bolt up under and inside the wheel wells, does that make sense?

I think he means separating the inner and outer skins, not removing the whole bed side. Right?

I have done this. There are about a million spot welds along the top rail if I remember correctly. I I had to peal the outer panel lip up. It is ALOT of work to do. I havent mated up the good inners that I was trying to save with a decent outer yet. I kinda doubt that I ever will put them back together, I think it would be alot of work and wouldnt turn out all that good. Probably easier to look for a bedside with both good inners and outers.

To remove the skins you have to drill out about 100 spot welds on each, bend and pry the crap out of each and try to not bend the crap out of each. The amount of time and hassle would be about 5 times more than if you just removed each bedside, Plus i've never heard of anyone just replacing a bed skin, most people will repair the inside part to save the hassle.

If they are that nice you would be better off to cut them up as patch panels. They should still be better than using re-pop panels.

The way I see it, I would cut the inside panels about 3-4 inches down the side. That way you could use them with some inners that you cut above that and over lap them. Then screw them together up near the top inside under the rail. This would hide the seam very well.
