WTB: Blazer Hatch glass

I'm looking for the glass for the rear hatch on a '72 blazer. My hatch is in decent shape but the glass is completely shattered. I have no idea how it happened...took the cover off the truck one day and there it was. I suspect a rabid squirrel!

I'd be interested in a complete hatch if you've got one that's trashed except for the window.

Thanks guys. I guess I hoping to find somebody within reasonable driving range with one. Aside from packing the thing in a foam-lined crate I really have no idea how to ship it.

You could wrap it in foam and bubble wrap, insure it for $300 bucks and if it does make it great,if not you can get 1 penny for each little piece of glass thats left

YOU CAN WRAP IT IN CARPET PADDING (3/4" FOAM RUBBER) & REINFORCE THE CRATE WITH 1X4s, BUT YOU'LL PROBABLY HAVE MORE $ IN CRATING THAN IT'S WORTH. JOHN

I have two hatches with minor cracks about like the one Junkyard John was selling. The one on my 70 blazer is trashed. I was going to get the two hatches cleaned up and put one on my 70 and have a spare for my 70 and 71
I haven't been able to find a fiberglass person. And Have them fixed. Been so busy. Anyway if I ever get around to and you haven't found one. I would part with one of them. We travel to my in laws in Orange County quite often. You could pick it up there. . If you don't find one soon let me know. Maybe I can get going on the other two hatches

Sounds like a plan! Let me know what you want to do. It's unlikely I'm going to find anything else closer than NoVA. I'll take the trashed hatch off your hands.

You could also do what I did- trace the outline of the opening- take it to a local glass shop, along with the rubber gasket, tell them what you want- they measure, cut, install - I cost me about $100.And my 71 Blazer, 4x4, 454, auto will probably never see the top on it again! But it looks good sitting on the trailer in the yard.
Good luck.

I'll be in northern VA the end of March, I have a "not so great" hatch with good glass I could bring with.
That's if thing's don't work out with the others.

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for all the great offers.

Kleantouch: I was wondering how much it would cost me to get a piece custom made. Better than I expected. That's a beautiful blazer you've got. I love the color and the wheels.

muddyole: Great offer. Thanks. That would be a pretty long trip for me but I'll keep it in mind.

vtblazer: Sounds like a possibility. pound41 said he may also have one and his in laws only live about 45 mins from here so I'll see if he can come through. If not, I'll probably take you up on it. I'll keep in touch.

Kleantouch: I tried getting my local glass shop to cut a new piece for my hatch, but they said they can only do regular glass--not safety glass (they are a small operation, however). Is yours safety glass?

If you haven't found one, let me know and I'll throw it on the "bring" pile.
