Maximum wheel backspacing

I plan to buy a set of Centerline Wheels 15x10" (back) and 15x8" (front) for my truck. I want the tires to be as far under the truck as possible. Does anyone have experience in the maxium backspacing for both front and back

thanks

jason

That completely depends on the size of tire you are going to use. Not sure on a widebox, but for my '68 the stock axle is 63" mounting flange-to-mounting flange. The width of the stepside bed on the inside of the wheelwell is 50-1/4". To be safe you should have 1" of clearance on the inside of the tire.

Tire Size

I am looking at a 50 series in the back and a 60 series in the front. I don't know all the new numbers yet. I think measuring is the best way.

usually 4.5" is a good standard, maybe 5". i know both of those are good for sure but you may be able to get 5.5" or possibly more with a small sidewall.

I know you can fit a 15 x 12 w/7.5 "of BS.....so if you have a 10" rim you could have 5.5" of BS....

If you mini-tub or tub it you can run alot more back-spacing so that makes a difference as well.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Wheel diameter makes a difference on the front wheels. The rear is not as critical. You can run a 5" backspace up front with 17's,... but not with 15's. (rubs on the lower a-arms) Stay with a 4" backspace on the front.
