gauge lighting
my gauge lights keep on blowing fuses and i cant figure out why? i took out the whole bezel and rest of stuff to get down to the lights twisted them a bit, put in a new fuse and they worked, so i put everything back together tested it and it blew a fuse!whats up with that? any suggestions?
and another question.... i have some aftermarket gauges that i want to hook up so that when i turn on my dash lights the other gauges will turn on to. how would i go about wiring them? i also have problems with the front turn signals not workin sometimes. could it be lack of grounds? from workin on my truck ove noticed theres no chassis grounds...what could i use?how many?where should i put them?

Guage lights feed off of the same circuit as the vehicle running lights. I had the same problem about ten years ago and it turned out to be a short in the harness which travels along the frame rail to the rear lights. There are a series of metal clips which hold the harness and one of them rubbed through the insulation.

I put in a set of gauges in my truck and just crimped the gauges power wires into the power wire up by the headlight switch. But you have to test which one your crimping into because one of them I believe is hot all the time. So you have to find one that is only hot when the switch is pulled out...Good luck...Mike

i tested them today and 3 of them were hot all the time and the rest did nothing, none came on just with the switch

Yah, sounds like a ground some where. Or it is getting too much juice if its blowing fuses. You might try putting a little bit higher fuse in maybe.

my truck is doing the same thing and its caz the po had fixed a spot in the harness and the tap came off

i tried putting in a 30 amp fuse but it blew some other fuse. where should i put grounds?
