Question Removing C/10 fender emblems

Hey guys,
What is the easiest way to remove these emblems?. Can I just remove a few bolts on the wheel liner and get a ratchet in there?. Thanks

if your paint is already crappy, the easiest way is to unbolt the bottom of the fender and lighly pull the fender out, just enough to ge a helpers hent in there.

Hey 70c10, i put a rag around a screw driver and stuck it between the fender and emblem and mine popped right off. I had to get new clips when i reinstalled them.

I think most if not all these emblems were bolted on. To pop them off you would have had to have someone taken them off before and put clips on them. Once you have unbolted them go to NAPA and get the clips that let you just slide them in then you will not have to have the hassle of bolting and unbolting them again.

Mine are pretty new aftermarket ones but I want to remove them before I get my truck painted.

All of the C-10 emblems that I have seen are held on with stamped steel nuts unless someone has replaced them with the barrel clip retainers. If you have the factory nuts holding the emblems on, you will break the emblems before the nuts will let go. We pull the liner back after removeing 4-5 fasteners and reach in with a 1/4" drive ratchet or a 3/8" box/open end wrench. Some trucks seem to have more room than others so I have loosened the bottom fender mount bolt to gain the room needed.

Just unbolt your inner fenders and remove
them, the inners come out really very easy.
You dont need to remove the tire or jack up
the truck...The drivers side is a bit more
difficult only because of the steering shaft.
Once the inners are removed, you have lots
of room/access to get the emblems on/off with
out any damage to anything. If your body
bolts are rusted, dose them with WD-40 good
the night before and then just before you go
to remove them...It really very simple. Also
just be sure nothing is bolted/strapped to
those *before* you try to pull them out!

You have to remove all the bolts...on the
inner fender, then you can either just let
the fender drop down or take it entire out
its really quite easy to do, assuming none
of the bolts break. Just remember to remove
bar on the drivers side that supports the
opening where the steering column passes
thru.

First question. Are you putting them back on or shaving them. If you are putting back on then go to the extra trouble. If you are shaving them, then get a metal paint scraper slide it behind the emblem and give it a smack with a hammer, it will snap the stud right off. Then its just a hook shot away to the trash can. hehe

Thanks for all the info guys!. I just got both off a few minutes ago. Both sides were held on with the front barrel nut only. The drivers side was easy- I was able to reach in with a 3/8 socket and get it off. The passenger side I had to drop wheel liner to get to it. My painter is happy plus it saved me shop time. I'm going with pearl ghost flames with a fine silver metallic dust throughout and blue tips to set them off. The front clip into the doors for $750. I've been waiting for this for a year now. I'll post pics when I get it back!. As always thanks for the help.
