Switch Cleaning

Ironically, Saturday after I took the window washer pump cover off, cleaned it and lubricated it I tested it by switching the window washer switch on. That gave me non-stop wiping and washing, and a pal told me the switch had shorted. I guess that makes sense because whenever I plug that switch back and start the truck the washer and wiper never stop nomatter where I position the switch.
My trucks a 78 1/2 ton. Is there any way to clean that switch with some kind of contact cleaner instead of finding another one somewhere?

You may also want to check the unit to be sure that it was reassembled properly. The wiring in the unit may be shorted (or not connected properly). If it wasn't causing you problems before you cleaned it, it may not be the switch.

To clean the switch, try some denatured alcohol. Then, lube the contacts with some dieletric grease.
