My 71 seat is shot. It seems to sit a little high already, so which front beach seat should I find as a replacement? Would prefer minimal fabrication, and it would have to sit pretty low...any taller seat will put my head in the roof! Don't need power seats, electric nothing. Just a comfy low bench that I can bolt in.

Tom,

I used a set from a Chev mini van. The back rest adjusts with a knob that is turned , instead of a lever. I found the lever type seat adjustments do not allow you to tilt the back of the seat enough to clear the tank. I used the brackets off of the bench seat (found a second set) and mounted these to the floor. I made a 3 inch spacer channel that fit the front of the seats. ( I found that was the most comfortable, you may want a higher or lower spacer). I find they are very comfortable one thing was that because the adjust ment are on you left the passenger cannot more the seat without a lot of trouble.

I thought I had pics, but I cannot find them. I will get some new ones and send them to you.

BTW where are you located, I have a set of low back seats from a 69 cab. I don't think they are from that year. (maybe a 74 or 75 GM truck) I could be talked out of they for cheap, say for some Model T parts.

I gotta have a bench seat! Did you use the bench from the minivan's rear seat? I am in Spartanburg, SC., and would appreciate any advice or donations or great deals that can make the 71 a little more comfy on the road!

Oh sorry I thought you were looking for a set of buckets. The seats I put in were bucket seats from a chevy mini van. What i would do is take your tape measure to the scrap yard and measure some seats. What abouta set of 60-40 split seats from a 90's chevy truck??

for a bench I would recommend the 88-91 GM trucks. That is prior to the headrests being added to the truck. Simple swapout and super confortable. You can go with the later 92-98 and just slip out the headrests also.
