Question Exhaust questions

Getting ready to put a new exhaust system on my truck and am wondering about the pros and cons of X pipe vs H pipe vs just straight pipe behind mufflers. Planning on running it to behind rear wheels. Also, what does pipe diameter affect, ie 21/4 vs 21/2? Engine is 350 with RV cam, QJet and headers.

This is what I know; X and H pipes are useful for equalizing exhaust flow/pressure between left and right side. I don't think they have any cons. as far as the diameter goes, I know it is the matter of torque. I am not sure if the smaller diameter gives more low end or high end torque. I hope somebodyelse fill up all the blank points that I left.
