Seat Mounting - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just got a good deal for a bench seat out of a 93 GMC... My question is since the mounting holes aren't an exact match, how did you guys do your conversion? My thought was to drill out some new holes, and weld a nut or tap a 1/4" 2x4 or 4x4 flat plate and then tack that to the under side of the body after the seat is in it's final position. Sinde I'm just in the mock up stage any advice would be appreciated. And pictures would also be helpful.
