Question Emissions stuff on '72

New guy here; 'mornin everyone. We're up to our thingie-dos in snow here in New Hampshire. Wish I had a heated garage. I have a '72 half-ton with 250 ci I6, 3-speed manual. There is no air pump, & there are no air injector bungs on the exhaust manifold. The shop manual shows all this stuff. Do I have a mongrel, or were there California & non-California versions of this year truck?

I have a 71 originally sold in cali and it did not have the air pump or
air injectors from the factory. Was this something that started in 72?

Farside, I don't know for sure, but I have a 72 cab that originally came from Cali, and it states "Calif. Emissions" on the glove box door decal.

Huh, I wonder..... I had a 73 a few years back and it did have that smog
pump hooked up to factory headers. Interesting. I bet it started in 72

From what I can tell, smog pumps first starter appearing in 68. According to what I've seen in my resto pack they were for 1/2 ton - manual transmissioin trucks only. I don't think they were for California trucks only at least at first. It looks like automatic trucks usually had the heat riser set up.

My truck has a smog pump and it has no special California option. I think it's a native ND truck. I've seen a few other 68's with smog pumps. These rules may have changed by 72.
