hood doesn't pop up when released
Hey everyone: This may be a simple item and it may have been discussed before here but with the search disabled I wasn't sure. When I release the hood on my 72, it won't lift enough to pick it up. I am going to install a bug guard on it which matches the contour of the hood but I won't be able to catch the edge of the hood I use right now. Is it the springs in the hinges which "pulls" the hood up slightly or is there something in the release which lifts the hood? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try lubricating the hinge pivots and the latch assy. The latch assy may also need some minor adjusting.

I recently used 3 in 1 oil on my hinges "everywhere" and now the hood really pops up nice.

Crush a Viagra and sprinkle it on the hinges

68/SBC406 had a pretty cool trick for it on his truck. It's up to him if he wants to give his secret away.

Try lubing the hinges first and if that dosen't work the hinges are shot....I put new hinges on mine with the old springs and I have to hold my hand over the hood when I pop it to keep it from springing all the way open

A little wd 40 or lubricant at the moving parts always seems to work.Apply lube to hinges and latch mechanism ,open and close , then apply lube again ,open and close.
