Correct inside cluster color...well almost!
I am restoring the gauge cluster for my '67 C-30. The inside of it had surface rust on the light green color on the inside middle plate. I don't know of a fctory paint to repaint it, so I looked around and found something very close. The name of thecolr is 3509 Jade Green Satin by Krylon. It is supposed to be a Satin Touch Designer Color. I bought in the Home Improvement section at Wal*Mart. I have attached a couple of pics of a spare middle plate half-painted with the paint. The side painted is the left side. The paint line is the very center where the tach would be if it were from a tach cluster. There's very little difference., and ity has the same dull, satin finish. I just thought I'd pass it along for you guys restoring clusters. If you know of anything better, let me know!

Thanks, I was going to do some testing of my own this weekend to try and get the right colour. Now I can spend more time sandblasting the chassis.

I asked Krue if he would put this into a FAQ for clusters. See if he could put together multiple cluster how to's into 1 thread. Said he would see what he could do...

That's the same color I bought except I ended up having to airbrush mine. The only thing I could find was the ones in the little bottles under the Krylon "Shortcut" label. Thanks for the tip...
BTW - As far as the color difference, I have noticed that there are variations in the color on the inside of the clusters so who's to say it wouldn't be correct...

I didn't like the results the stock green tint has, even when repainted. I did mine in chrome and it reflects the lights so much better. Dash is actually readable now with the extra lighting.

I had thought of that but want the green color for the light... Maybe change to green bulbs?
