I been looking for a 72 short wheel base step side truck with factory A/C in it, I have seen a lot of them, but none with the factory A/C, did they make them?

yes a/c was available in short steps also, you should be glad that you even get to see shortsteps at all, some of us never see any at all ever

problem is most stepsides where base model trucks
