New Member Requesting Help
Hello everyone I am sorry to say I have been lurking on the site for some time and this is my first post. I would appreciate any information anyone has on this truck. I am currently in the planning stage of a 71 crew cab stepside so any information would be appreciated.

What kind of info are you looking for?
It looks like they took a suburban and shortened it up for the cab and through a short box on the ass end. Notice the lean at the back of the cab, and the height of the roof above the drip rails. Very nice custom setup and it looks a hell of alot better than the factory four door, IMHO |

They even put the trim below the windows from a suburban.

That one looks good but IMO, I think they look MUCH nicer if they are done like the one that ProDesign built...(see pic below).
For this you would need both a donor burb and your cab from your stepper... Keep in mind the burbs have a higher crown on the roof as compared to a p/u so you will probably want to reskin the burb roof with a couple p/u roofs.

I have been thinking of doing this same project myself. The best way that I can think to do it has been to cut the back of the burb off right at the rear of the 3rd door doorjamb. Also, carefully remove the skin off of the roof, leaving the inner support structure in place. This can be reworked to fit again later. Take the pickup cab, cut it in the middle of the roof and across the floor under the seat. Take carefull measurements and trim the burb floor so that the p/u floor can go in with a slight overlap(for stregnth). Do the same for the roof area. Cut the p/u door window frames in the middle and drill out the spot welds on the frames at the latch side of the door. Carefull mark the 3rd door on the burb so that the rear part of the p/u window frame can be put in. For a chassis, I was going to use a 73+ Crewcab l/b frame and rework the bodymounts on it and shorten the wheelbase to accept a shortbed and convert over to 1/2 ton suspension.
Anyway, that is my idea on how to do one...
