My new project - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi! So I've always wanted a 67-72 and all of my friends knew I was looking for one. I've either not had money or not had time when I found one available or just didn't like it. Anyway, long story short, I moved overseas for a while to work on a project and one of my good buddies told me the day I was leaving that he had something for me that I've always wanted, and to make sure I came back, he didn't tell me what it was. So for six long months, I wondered what the heck he was talking about. My parents knew, but wouldn't tell me. So when I got home in January, he invited me over and showed me what it was:

Needless to say, I'm wicked excited about it. This is the only picture I could manage to get because it is parked pretty tightly. I did crawl around under it and cracked the driver's door open. So here's what I know so far:

It has a 350 in it, PO said it ran great but we've never heard it run. SM465 is almost attached after the PO gave up on the project halfway through installing a new clutch. The NP205 is sitting in the bed. It has discs up front (one less thing on my to do list), no idea what gears are in it. Looks to be lifted (how much?) on all springs with poly bushings. It looks like an older restoration, original color looks to be red. It is a very basic truck, no A/C. It has a full set of old school Sun gauges in it, and a Grant steering wheel. Judging by the looped hoses, I think it needs a heater core. It needs floors badly, the doors, rockers, and cab corners could probably be redone. The bed is in rough shape, bad rust in the wheel wells. I noticed a mint condition transfer case shift knob on the seat when I looked in. There is also a box of misc parts that I need to go through.

So it's still sitting in my buddy's driveway down in CT. One of his friends offered to put the drivetrain back together and when that's done we'll trailer it over to my parent's house just down the road. I'll go through the brakes, try to fire it up, and if it runs, my father will use it to haul lumber for the new addition and 3 car garage at their house. Then, come winter, into the finished garage for a full frame off restoration, money and time permitting*.
