2" crossmember drop
I know this has been brought up time and time again and yes I have read the crossmeber post over and over. Some of you guys say you will have to run a rack and pinion if you chop the crossmember more than 1.5" but has anyone tried to run the stock steering w/ a 2" chop before? I want to hear from someone who has tried, not speculating. thanks

I am playing/working (in spare time) on a 2" chop setup. Like Scoti said. I will NOT work with the stock steering.

Now Capt this one is for you, if I were to do a 2" chop like your method and ran lower arms similar to turner's, could I mount a rack up or would it come in contact w/ the lower arms? My goal is to lay frame on w/ 20" rims maybe 22" in my 63

DM310- You won't need a 2inch crossmember drop. My 63 Suburban when my frame rails are planted on the ground my front crossmember is about 1.5-2" off the ground. I am running a 245-40-20 in the front.... Not a small 20 but not a huge 20. It says it is 27.7" on tirerack.com. With Capt dropped crossmember I don't think it will be possible to do Bill Turner Type arms. Not enough material there. Bill Turner Arms will lay out on 20's with no crossmember drop. Small 20's. With dropped crossmember and arms should be able to do 22's. Don't see why not!
