The transmission output shaft is different between a 4x4 truck and a 2wd (of any kind, car or truck, short, long, or intermediate tailshaft).
What exactly broke?

I busted the top right off the bellhousing and to get it fixed is gonna be more than another tranny.
I know that a car or truck tranny th-350 will fit a new process 208 all aluminun transfer case if you pull off the tail shaft and cut the out put shaft down I have done this and it works great they are the same spline and all just that the 203 is a 4 piece transfer case front 2 halves are cast and rear 2 pieces are aluminum and I think it might have a different spline and everything so I think I might be stuck with 1 tranny option but not sure what will bolt up to the 203.

Sorry,Pal.It's gonna be a 4wd th350 or a complete tranny/transfer case swap.
I hate to admit it,being as trannys are my living, but I did this same thing a couple of years ago.Plain and simple,I got sidetracked and forgot to pull 1 bolt,it was of the top 2.The engine pulled right out, with about a 6" chunk of transmission. Not good, and you can only hope you were alone when it happened. |
