700R Swap

I was thinking about swappinp a 700r4 for t400 in my 84 k10. It has a 208 tansfer case with the 700 r in front. Is there any tricks to this swap? It looks like a direct swap. Any info would be great.

I am new to the forums

That's funny 'cause I may be doing the opposite soon.

Yeah there are a few things you will and may need to do.

Get correct TV cable, dip stick
You may need a new yolk on the rear shaft and possibly a front driveshaft depending on splines. Last one I did needed both.
The crossmember is different too, all this can be had from a junk yard if needed.
You will need a way to lock up the TC. There are many products available that will do this or there are several write up that will show you how to make one yourself.
Since you are swapping in a transfere case too, make sure to get all the parts with that, shifter, rods ect.
If you have all the parts it doesn't take long or much thought about doing.
Good luck!!!

You'll need an electric kickdown switch as the TH400 doesn't use a cable. IIRC most factory switches were placed under the gas pedal.
