Damn You! Ya had to show a picture with leaves on the trees, green grass & not a cloud in the sky! I wish I was in TX Rained all day here, grass is brown and tree's are bare.

Looks like a nice project truck. Is it mainly just surface rust? Rockers/cab corners looked good.

Good Luck... Always liked the 67/8's...

Thanks Swbman. I have bouncing off the walls today, waiting to get it here. At least three neighbors came by to check it out too. The neighbors know cool when they see it.

Rockers are not good. not the worst I've ever seen, though. Kickpanels are shot. Bedfloor is shot. But it sure looks good out there.

Thumbs up

Cool beans, man

A family heirloom is great, but a truck is awesome. I see you have the boss already working on it in the last picture. My 2-year-old loves my truck and even likes to help keep it clean. Give him a towel and he wipes away. Good luck getting her restored.

Yeah, we call the boy The Narrator, because he never stops talking. Now, maybe I'll call him the head mechanic.

The wife is a good sport. I had just about talked her into a new truck, so she is getting off a lot cheaper, for now!

It'll be a while until this one is ready for the road, too. So you have plenty of time to get your truck running!

Well if your Neighbors are like mine, they were thinking..."He's not actually going to keep that here... I hope its just some repairman coming to fix something... Junior now stay away you might catch something...."

But all the kids love old trucks!!! Your kewl factor goes up by 300% with kids when you drive a real truck!!! I got a jeep and was going to replace the truck with it... but I couldn't do it !!! My wife was like yes!!! My son was like NO DADDY YOU CAN'T Get Rid of the TRUCK!!! So, anybody wan't to buy a jeep?

Good Luck with Pappy's Ole truck...

Lucky for me, there are 2 other non running vehicles on this street. So I win some points from the other neighbors since mine is in the driveway. The others are out on the street. Gotta love neighborhoods without homeowner's association restrictions! I think several neighbors were curious when I took the leaf blower to the inside of the cab last night, though.

Thanks for the good wishes. I am taking this weekend to just get a good plan together. I 'll probably keep cleaning her out, too. It's going to take a while to get all of the spider webs and cattle feed outta there!

I am going to look for some good info on rebuilding the carb first.

Yeah, some of the guys think the longs look wierd. I think the short steps are missing a little something... Besides, I like having something that not everyone else has. Or wants.

Yeah, I would definetly look for something in a little better shape to start with, except that My Papa put almost all of the 45K miles on her around his farm.

BTW, yours a shortbed? I actually love the way shortbeds look, but I sure don't mid the extra space either!

Hmmm, leafblower... That may be useful for cleaning all the leaves out of my cowl area, I removed the cowl cover and pulled out all I could but there's tons of little pieces and dust in there I can't get out...

Looks like I gotta get the leafblower fired up this weekend!

Thanks, Rg

Yeah, it worked really well, since the kick panes are rusted, all of the crap that would have gotten caught up there, just blew right through the "nautral AC vents" Much better than trying to blow it out with th Air Compressor hose! Which I have also been know to use to blow leaves... Whatever is handiest. I'm lazy

Yep, shortbed stepside. Has a good look to it, but barely fits a full sheet
of plywood

I have some pics up at http://www.butlerclan.net/truck.html

Hey, easy on the shortsteps! J/K, I like yours too. I wish I had a "family heriloom" like yours, I'd fix it up no matter what the cost. Mine did come from my uncle, but it's not like he had it since it was new, he only had it a few years. My girls love my truck too, Even in its primered and rusted state. If I ask what vehicle they want to ride in, it's always the truck.

Cool truck and a good story to go with it, as well as a head mechanic!

As to the leaf problem, I used the soft hose of my shop vac poked down the kick panel vent to get the "stuff" out of there, and it did a pretty good job.

Before it's all said and done you'll spend a lot more than you figured on , but you'll have a lot nicer truck to show for it!
