How to repair bed floor?

Hey Guys, I am perplexed.
I have a '70 C-10 (fleetside, lwb) w/ major rust in the front 1/2 of the bed floor. The front 18" or so is particularly bad. What are my options for repairing this?

I have a about an 12" by 36" bed patch w/ the ribs & all, but what do I do about the front 2" that is flat (non-ribbed)? & what about the transition?

Has anyone ever cut & joined 2 bed floor halves together? Is the bed floor bolted or welded to the rest of the bed?

Thanks,

I have removed the entire floor before and bought 3/16-1/4 thick diamond tread steel. That makes a hell of a bed floor and adds some weight to the rear wheels.

Cutting that piece from a junkyard truck is one option. Fabbing the piece up yourself is another.

Is the floor bolted or welded to the sides?

the floor has several bolts holding it in place, and then there are also some spot welds at the back.
