A/C Freash air question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am working on the A/C heating system, and after removing the cowl ,I saw this little set up. I assume this flap is supposed to open via the metal lever. Qustion: What connects the lever to the door. What sort of clip / connector is used (besides bailing wire).

Alright if I remember correct the metal rod and spring in your picture is just there to keep it in the firewall and let it rotate. The spring keeps it engaged. The lower arrow to the hole gets a spring to keep this open. On the outside not shown in the photo sticks out of the cowl into the engine compartment on this goes another rod that gets attached to a vacumn pot the levers inside the cab operate the vaccumn that opens this one and closes the vent on the passengers side this is the same as the "recurculate" when the outside vent is open the inside closes this uses fresh air...

clear as mud? I can get some picture of my setup if you need. I am sure there are others that may clear this up.

it goes to the hole right below the 3rd windshield wiper looking bracket in CPNE's picture. It just hooks somewhere to keep it open prior to vaccumn being applied...

Ok so there is a spring..it goes through the hole to where? should I lay off the pipe a little? (I have the whole firewall stuff complete thanks CPNE)

my post above was intended to answer that... the spring will go up from what you are showing to a small hole in the non used windshield wiper brace. I dont think I can edit the picts but may try.
