Help- Rear Disc Brakes Question

I pulled my rearend out to put my TSM Disc Brakes on my 63 suburban and have a issues.... How are your backing plates attached to your axles....Mine are pressed on or welded on. It is suppose to be bolted to a flange, but I don't have a flange. Does anyone else have the same rearend as myself. This is the orignal rearend. I do not want to replace the housing. It has too much welded to it! Any info on these rearends

I'd call the manufacture of your kit. If they said it would fit it should if not they should have some answers. You'd think they'd have instructions.

Looks like a 12 bolt, I was thinking maybe you had something else. Both of mine have flanges that the backing plates are bolted to, maybe the earlier ones had pressed on backing plates I really don't know. I guess you could fab something up you are just going to have to get someone with their rearend apart to take some measurements from the backing plate flange to the axle flange. That should be all you need to get the caliper bracket in the correct position to center the caliper opening on the disc.

that's a hell of a drop you got going there. how about a closeup of the back side of your drum backing plates? it would really help.

I went down to my shop and looked it over and they are pressed.... They have teeth/grooves that go around the axle and backing plate.... I have another rearend that I'm going to cut the axle flanges from.... Hopefully have it finished next week.

Well I got the rearend completely apart the other night.... it is an 18spline axle....ya whoa. what do I have! So I bought an Eaton Posi 30 spline, 4.10 gears, moser housing ends and going to buy custom lenght axles now! figured I might as well shorten my rearend another 2 inchs to make it easier to pull the tires off and give me an 1.5 inside the wheel well! All this for rear disc brakes!
