New Life in the Beater

Hello fellas! I just bought a 1966 c 10 from a local here and it needs help. I am wanting to pull the motor and tranny for a while so that i may rebuild it. I am still fairly new the the truck world and unsure of a good motor tranny combo that I could put in. It will be temporary so I wanted to purchase an in-expesive combo from a junk yard or something that will run for a while and keep the beast rolling. So the big question is does anyone have any good suggestions, to point the rookie in the right direction? Any specific years or models that are particularly easy to find or easy to work with? Thanks in advace for the words of wisdom!

Lenny

It's a V8 with what I believe to be a powerglide judging by the shape of the tranny fluid pan. I am going to get casting numbers of it this weekend.

That looks like a truck I saw for-sale in Northern Oklahoma a while back. Are you in Blackwell, Ok?
