PoS 67-72s

why is it that all the 67-72s around are buckets of crap? im starting to see more and more of these around but almost all of them are junk....there is a guy that works at the local walmart with a 72 chev that looks like it was painted with rust partially....there is a 68 around that the fenders are half gone on....i was driving up the road tonight and spotted a orange like 70 GMC so i tailed him....it was like 6 different colors and he got on it and i think i could have spanked his ass with the dodge caravan i was driving....

There are several nice ones around here. There is a couple of guys that restore and sell them here, and due to that there are quite a few really nice ones.On the other hand, finding a nice unmolested truck is next to impossible.

I hate to admit I'm in the POS catagory

Been slowly working on the rusted parts on this LONGHORN.I was fortunate the bed on this baby was rust free and solid, original wood bed.........One side done, rockers, cab supports, kick panel etc.Passenger side getting done next week and that will take care of any major rust spots for another 30 plus years............... Then a paint job.............

I don't see a problem, as a matter of fact every truck should wear some battle scars and a few layers of "patina". I call them "Rot Rods". It's what separates them from the cookie cutter crowd.

I'll put this post in the "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?" category.

CPNE,I'd like to see some interior shots of that 3rd truck

I went to MDs for breakfast this morning, and there was a rotted, half primered 70 GMC in the parking lot.The rockers were gone, bottoms of the fenders gone, windshield busted, tags hanging by a coat hanger, but the bed was in great shape. Both sides and even the tailgate was perfect. How does that happen?

the thing that i think is funnier than hell, is that until my engine gave up on me i was one of 3 67-72chevytrucks that was orange with one green door and one of the two is a 67 small window cab with a 72 front clip, i got a laugh out of it the other day when all 3 of us pulled up in the local park in ride coincidentally, i wish i would have gotten a picture.

I'm originally from Ohio and there are next to no 67 to 72 truck left on the road. I now live in North Carolina. I can't drive anywhere without seeing one or two 67 to 72 still being driven daily. Thank God we don't use salt on are roads to often. Go Duke we want are fourth NCAA Basketball Championship. B.B.

I have a 72 lwb C/10 Its orig. down to the paint. It has a 307, 3 on tree, and it still has the rust free rockers in it. But the old man who had it put a dent in almost every panel. It just turned 100,000 a week or so ago. Its my beater truck, use it to haul trash. Everyone needs a beater to drive in bad weather or haul trash. B.B.

You gotta remember, these trucks were sold as trucks, driven as trucks and repaired as trucks. Whatever it took to keep 'em going is the way it was.

We're just the bunch that cares about these old trucks now, in the day who knew?

Talking

Hell, I wish I hadn't put all the time and effort into Screamin' sometimes. I went out and bought a '74 C20 for trash runs and haulin stuff cause I don't want to scratch up Screamin. I like the old "primered" days where I could toss stuff in the back or run down gravel roads without sweatin the small stuff.

I Rhino Lined the rockers, bed, interior and lower panels of the '74 looks wicked and no rock chips or dirty carpet

BUT, I love the looks and compliments and the sprained neck double takes I get when I'm in Screamin.

Theres just something about the body style that screams fix me, polish me, spend every last dime on me and make me special. LOL

I'm gonna go take my pill now.....

You guys are tougher than me. Around here, there's many, many trucks for sale that don't even need rockers or fender wells, or core supports replaced. 100 percent rust free.

I probably see more than 20 67-72 trucks every day.

If I had to rebuild a truck from the ground up like some of you guys, I'd take up another hobby. It's a hobby, not lifelong endeavor to me.

Personally,I`m impressed with how many survivors are out there.Even in the rust-belt.These trucks are over 30 years old and in some cases that`s 33+ years of salt and chemicals(not to mention rain, snow,&ice.Look at any metal that`s sat outside that long, let alone been force-fed all those elements at 60 mph.I`ve always noticed these trucks are beat-to-hell and still being used for work, even.Or,there`s the cherry or gently weathered old man truck that has been pampered since day one.I can`t tell you how many times I`ve known about a man that`s selling his truck that he bought new and now he`s giving up driving.Who`da thought back in 67-72 they were buying their last truck. They were the first enthusiasts, and crowd keeps growing, now through the generations.Don`t you see nice ones cruising`round come summer?I`m sure in your area there`s folks that store`em for the winter, just to enjoy them in the summer.
