Looking for patch panels... - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

No to sound too cheap here, but is there any chance that someone bought some patch panels and didn't end up using them? I need to order a bunch of them for my '72 Suburban. Imagine an Ohio truck that basically needs all of teh sheetmetal on the bottom of the truck... It's not exactly that bad, but I do need all of the rockers, wheel lips and quarter bottoms. The fenders and doors are ok. I also need some work on the driver's side floor near the rocker, so I assume that I'll need a patch for that too.

Can anyone confirm which "bedside" or suburban patch that I would need for the quarters? I have read some different suggestions for this.

I am lucky enough that I have another burb to use for the inner braces, wheel tubs, ect...

As far as the patch panels go...

Your best bet would be to order the burb lower patches & the rockers. Keep in mind that the pass side P/U rocker is different than the pass side front door rocker. You will need to modify the p/u rocker to work but it can be done.

For the wheel arch, while not the cheapest way to do it, you will need a pair of SWB bedsides. The SWB bedsides have the correct bead in the lip as well as the correct shape at the leading edge of the arch(more squared off). The LWB bedsides are shaped somewhat different at the leading edge of the arch(more rounded). The pass side swb bedside can be used to go into the doorjamb and to the rocker but you will need to make a "pichweld" for the bottom. The drivers side you will need to have the lower panel from the wheel well to behind the front door fabricated.

Good info, Bagged. For my K10 burb, I just bought some blazer lower panels that go from the rear wheelwell foward. First look seems to be right, but I've yet to install them. The pass side goes from the wheelwell to the 3rd door. The driver's side goes only 2/3 of the way to the driver's door. I'll try to post here once I actually weld them in next week. I won't be sure till then.

Yeah, I was looking at them too. They seem to have a more pronounced bead on them than the upper wheel arch does. Wish they would get it together and just make full replacement 1/4's for the burb/panel.

Sure would make life easier than welding in 42 different patches! lol...

I just did my lower rear corner this weekend. What a nightmare! 1/2 in. too long over all. When you line up the wheel well the thing sticks out 1/2 in past the tail and same the other way. Had to cut the new panel and bend it around. Definatly not the perfect fit I was hoping for. but I did get it on.
