Well after a winter of puttering away on my small block I have it all back together with practically new everything and am faced with what to do for plug wires and routing. I have always hated the under the manifold routing for accessibility and have not as yet ever seen a really nice neat over the top set up. Anybody here have any suggestions as to a particular wire and wire routing set up to get a really nice result?

Like most of us I have used 180deg boots, But just like most of us I don't like the look, Maybe Taylor's 135deg would work better but I have yet to try them.

That is an amazing familiar picture. The set I have to replace has a multi angle boot and it is a little bit better.

With the stock exhaust mainfolds, I think the best way to go is the stock routing. What kind of accessablity do you need? But that's just my opinion....I think it's a lot cleaner look..

I used 76-85 Big block wires over the top.. And loomed above the valve covers..

Yup, used the same only got the hi-temp black, straight boots, clip to fit. I've heard some vette setups will work under the manifold, next to the block as well.

I used the wires for a 75 corvette 350. They had the ram horns and hei so that wires are the right length (for once).

How about a picture of the stock 'vette wires with HEI? I'd like to see how they are routed.

Here's a picture of my 327 when it was out of my truck. I did a mock-up of my stock wiring.

yeah, I used the 75 vette wires, routed like in the pic above... clean and outa sight, never a problem. There's a keeper that comes off one of the pan bolts as shown, and also one at the back of the block as the wires go vertical toward the dizzy.

No sorry I don't have a picture of the other side. I could take some current pictures of the lumis' and such now if needed.

Make sure you use the clips under the ram's horns. Otherwise the wires tend to touch the exhaust manafold and get burned and short out. I know from first hand experience!

Relatively new guy to the board with a question about this wiring route.... are the clips and looms available for this somewhere (under manifold route)?

I picked these up at Pepboys.They're cheap.The heat from the exhaust manifolds has melted 2 of the plastic separators already.The wires are Accell generic's.You have to put them together.The cut to fit kind.All though I didn't need to trim the lengths at all.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but Bobby K, I see you installed a vapor filter on your brake booster vacuum hose. I have the same one, but haven't installed the booster yet. Is there any difference in which ways it goes???

Ah...you know it's been a while since I put that on.
I think it IS directional and there should be some kind of marker on it.
Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

Nope, no directional arrow or any other indications on it. If you blow thru it, it is the same either way. So, I am not sure if it makes a difference. Nothing on the package either.
