Sorry, slight rant.............
Isn't it crappy when you respond to a post for a part for sale that you really want, and there's six people ahead of you. What's even crappier is when all six guys in front of you bow out over the course of a day or two for whatever reason and then "miracle of miracles" you actually get dibs on it. You email the guy all weekend numerous times, trying to figure out where to send your money and how, even leaving cell phone #'s just to make sure there's no communication problem, and all of a sudden he pops up on Monday morning and posts saying "part is sold"
Huh?! Helloooo?!?!?! On top of that, no communication saying, "dude, sorry, here's the reason why that happened" nothing. This isn't ebay or anything, but I had at least thought we had a sort of "honor code" concerning dibs and such. Guess some people do and some don't. Sorry for the rant............Jerry

I was very pissed at first but since then i've realized that the deal won't go through now regardless, so now i'm not pissed, just bummed. For all I know maybe he had a good reason, the thing is, even if you have to do something different, tell the people who are expecting communication. If you post a part and then do something different, let the guy on the other end know, 99% of the time, they will understand. Don't just blow them off and then not answer emails or pm's. .........................Jerry

Just a gut feeling, but you were probably better off not getting the chance to buy it. Whenever someone gives me very little info, doesn't take paypal, and won't give me even a phone #, I get suspicious. That's why I backed out. I've been burned before. (not here)

I think the guys here are for the most part good honest guys, but you always find someone who for what ever the reason will not let you know what's going on. Jerry maybe right good reason for not selling to him but a little hint to let you know to keep looking would be the right thing to do. He owes you that at least.

EJ also blew me away with non-communication, so no dealing with him simple enough!
The word is in the wind, I hope you see this EJ.

I thought the whole deal with the internet, message boards,forums,chat-rooms,and the "information age"we`re in was about...communication.It all fails without it.

It still happens here. I know in the last year I have seen several threads about buying and selling and even Josh's rules for buying and selling.
The common understanding is that you reply in the thread and the list starts there. 1st, 2nd and so on. Still many people PM trying to snipe something. I have had the same thing happen recently and will honor posts here on the board and give time for each person to ask questions and/or respond before moving on to the next person.

nu2 your absolutely correct. I know of one person right now who was quite a few shadey like dealings but we can't say or do jack because very few people tell us when they have an issue. Bamm I don't know the details of your nontransaction (couldnt think of a polite word ) but from reading the post, like Josh said...... I'd be pissed

I agree about all of the PM'ing. Does just the message "PM sent" hold your place in line or should it be that you state your intentions openly, then PM for details, etc. It is hard to know where you stand when there is a lot of PM'ing going on. And I think it would be common courtesy to post that it is sold as soon as the deal is cut. Being new to the board I did go back to some old postings, looking for threads with items that I needed, and found some old ones open - at least that is how it looked - only to find later that the item had been sold. Me done now.

I have a 99% success rate on the board too. A few times I was "sniped" because of a PM message that was never communicated on a thread. I just figured the part was not meant for me.

JERRY.. I AGREE THAT FROM BOTH A BUYERS & SELLERS POINT OF VIEW, THAT PEOPLE NEED TO DO MORE THAN SAY "I'M INTERESTED" OR ASK A QUESTION TO TIE THIS PART UP FOR DAYS. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO SAYING "I'LL TAKE IT"?? AS FAR AS I'AM CONCERNED UNTIL SOMEONE STEPS UP & SAYS "SOLD.. I'LL TAKE IT"..... IT'S STILL FOR SALE. THERE SEEMS TO BE WAY TO MANY PEOPLE SAYING "AWW GEE-WIZ I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS RIGHT NOW, OR I THINK I'LL PASS BECAUSE IT'S TOO COLD TO WORK ON MY TRUCK RIGHT NOW, OR I'M SURE COUSIN GEORGE WOULD WANT IT BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF HIM , OR COULD YOU POST 37 MULTI-ANGLE PICTURES, BECAUSE I MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN BUYING THIS ITEM, & WILL LET YOU KNOW IN 3 OR 4 DAYS. JOHN

I with the "win some, lose some" but I feel it would be nice to take responces in the thread. "Pm sent" to me would be considered a responce.

I can agree to an extent John, but sometimes you have to ask questions because of a part not being described fully or properly. For example, If I say I have a posi rear for sale I can't expect the first guy to not ask me what ratio it is, whether or not it's 6 lug or 5 lug, coil or leaf. And if i'm the first guy to respond, even though it's a question, I should have dibs on the part. I know that there are guys on here that jump on every part sometimes and then back off, I have done that once or twice myself and had to back off an hour or so later after checking with the boss on fundage. LOL There are guys on here that will want you to "hold" parts for them, and thats cool sometimes, if you don't need the cash in hand right away, but sometimes you just gotta get da green in your pocket. But this was far from the case, he's 2 hours from me and I pm'ed him telling him I could meet him at his convenience with cash in hand and he just blew me off. Anyway, thanks for the support guys. Later, ...........Jerry

Maybe he didn't want to sell it to someone in VA. You might be too close to him, if it's not exactly what he described it to be. Not saying that's the case but have seen that before on other boards. The further the better, plus some extra dollars for exaggerated shipping. You probably lucked out by not getting it.

junkyardjohn and HuggerCST, No BS is a great way to be sometimes and I appreciate honesty and frankness. But very often the seller does not state where they live, how much they want, color or size or ratio or 2wd or 4wd and questions are very important. I do not want to jump up with "SOLD, I'll take it" only to find out later the part is a 67-68 and I need 72.
If every seller would give as much description about the item being sold as they would like if they were buying. Problems resolved. Please take into account 2nd shift, 3rd shift, time zones, overtime, illness or worse. If you want a part bad enough to snipe it, post a WTB thread and let the sellers come to you.
