Help! Where to put fan temp in edelbrock? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have an RPM air gap intake that only has one water port in the front. I am using it for my mechanical water temp gauge. I want to use an intake temp probe instead of a radiator probe for my electric fan thermostat. Anybody know what the ports are for in the back of the intake? They are on the base of the intake, not the runners.

you could always put it in the head. theres only one water port on the rpm so you really dont have too much other choice

The junkyards are full of mid-80's small blocks with thermostat housings that have holes in them for temp sensors. You could retrofit one and use that for your sender.

It wouldn't show much until the thermostat opened, but it's an option.

The head temp is going to be really hot though isn't it? If I used the head for the gauge, the motor would "appear" to run hot all the time, if I used it for the fans, the fans would be on all the time. I wonder what those two ports in the back of the RPM are? Edelbrock wesite says they are water outlets. what the heck does that mean?

I would like to know if they make a chrome or aluminum version of that mid-80's housing? that would be good.

jegs and summit both have chrome housings with the sensor hole on their website. you got to do some searching, they dont offer much in the way of pics to go off of until you find it, but they're there.
