I have a 5 1/2 month old baby and another on the way soon.
I think im gonna have to swap my truck out for a burb. I dunno thats a big decision. Help me out.

Damn, you been busy. Slow down or you'll outgrow a suburban.

I personally like the 68-72 burbs. they can be tricked out like our trucks and have a really nice interior transplanted from a late model. do a search on them and you'll find a lot of cool ideas. The nice part of using the later model burb parts is that they were designed with "family" in mind and have very adjustable and safe seating as well as built in child seats in the higher end units. I am looking at going a similiar route and build a crew cab short box from a chopped up burb.

Good luck on the endeavor and even more luck with the new additions to your family.

I am keeping my truck and just bought a burb~! Can't wait till it gets here~! I really don't need a family hauler but I have a console in my truck so every time I want to take the girlfriend and my son at the same time to like Home Depot we have to take the Cherokee and then I have to come back and pick up the stuff that did not fit. Buy the burb~!

Since when is a Burb not a truck? As far as I'm concerned, the appearance is so similar and there are so many interchangeable parts that '67-72 pickups, blazers, and burbs are all trucks...

P.S. buy a Burb, you will never regret it!

Buy the 'Burb for sure. I am currently on my 3rd 'Burb. Although it is not the 67-72 vintage body style (have had an '82 and '88, currently have a '91 4x4) I doubt that you will regret it. While my '71 4x4 truck was in the body shop for restore I needed to haul some sheet rock and plywood. Put 15 sheets of 4 x 8 x 1/2" rock and 15 sheets of 4 x 8 x 5/8" siding in the back after removing the 3rd seat. Try that in your smaller SUV's. I like the room and the ride plus the safety of a truck frame and suspension. Don't like the mileage (15 - 16) on the road but the rest of it makes up for that fact. When I need room for the family the 'Burb definetly fills the bill.

I want to buy the wife a '68 GMC burb to match my truck and have her drive it all summer, and keep the Bravada for her winter enjoyment. But she likes the conveniences of the modern day automobiles. I say buy the 'burban.

I bought this Burb last fall to get the "Bud Wheels" off it for my 72 pickup. Well I started to drive it until I could resell it and now its so versatile I don't want to give it up. They are great, big, roomy, comfy and as some have attested to here a little hard on gas but the convienience of owning one makes up for the gas deficiency. I do like this one but have just picked up a 1990 Silverado model that I'm going to keep and use as a daily driver while I restore it slowly. The 80's models and up to the 1991 models are all the same and can be bought pretty cheap and don't worry about the Burb having120 or 130,000 miles they are liike the everready bunny, just keep going and going..providing you feed em gas of course..HAHAHAHA !!!!!!

I am not so sure this is the question to be asking. I think you need to ask "Can I afford the gas to drive this?" (Especially if it is your primary family vehicle).

I agree that a Burb is a pretty cool truck to have for a family vehicle. I had a 91 Sub (piece of crap, rusted from one end to the other). We sold it and bought a 1995 F**d Explorer (gasp!). The Explorer gets better mileage and is still roomy.

Just to make it clear, I am not against the Sub, but I think you need to look at the higher costs to operate it. My guess the older Subs are probably getting 10-12 mpg out on the highway. Am I correct?
