carb spacer

i didnt realize there was that many different types of carb spacers. i am looking at getting one mainly so the gas in the carb doesnt go to **** and run like crap when i start it up after it has been driven, but the low end torque thing sounds good too. which one would you buy? http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...61&cgrfnbr=650
i have a rpm performer intake and a edlebrock carb (750cfm electric choke)

a 4 hole spacer will help with you bottom end a lot it tricks the engine so to speak into thinking you have a very tame intake it will straighten out the air coming in and direct the air fuel where it needs to go. an open spacer generally helps on the top end only. but with the 4 hole i noticed a big difference on the bottom end and thats saying a lot considering im running a victor junior intake with a pretty lumpy cam. the same spacer also helped my brothers amc 304 in his jeep a bit on the bottom end. it made a noticeable difference for me but spacers are definately a hit or miss kinda thing some engines respond awesome some dont

If your only reason for a spacer is to prevent vapor lock, they do make heat shields that go in-between the carb and intake. You could also run the fuel lines thru a 'cool can', but that is a more for specialized applications.

what would the difference in heat diffusion difference be in the different materials (since that is mainly was i am going for) there was wood (probably wont get that) poly, aluminum, and like a stack of gaskets and aluminum. which would be better. deffinatly am going to get the 4 hole one

but those heat shields look horrid. probably work great but looks matter.

the aluminum should be fine aluminum dissapates heat extremely well i dont have the fuel boil problem anymore i sold the pos edelbrock and now run a holley

If the main reason is because you want it cooler than get the Phenolic plastic one! It will disapate heat the best. Aluminum is a metal and although it does disapate heat quick it wont like the Phenolic one will. And I agree with the 4 hole one.

I would think so, otherwise I dont think they could stand up to the heat. But ask whoever you get it from or the description if you buy from catalog.

I used part# edl-9266. Summit has them for about 15 bucks. I am very happy with it. The Burb starts up w/o any problems now when it is hot. I didn't notice any performance gains, but that isn't why I got it.

i am thinking about this one. part number 350-8715 Performer Dual-Plane Manifolds, 1/2'' Spacer. since i have a performer. or should i go 1 inch instead of the 1/3 inch that this one only comes in?

I think you saw the one on my 402 when we were in Salem. I'm running an Edelbrock Performer intake with the 750 carb. The spacer is a 1" Mr. Gasket 4 hole. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...90&prmenbr=361

I walked into a Schucks with my Jegs catalog. They matched the price for me so I didn't have to worry about paying shipping. I also installed the Edlebrock square flange plate.

Didn't want to take any chances on possible vacuum leaks. The only headache to this set up was figuring out the throttle bracket. Still not satisfied there.
