cheap 4x4 beater toy!
so after burying my western, very clean 94 blazer (2door fullsize) in a farmers field i decided not to do anymore hardcore wheeling with it in fear of breaking something, or paint/body damage on my daily driver.
What I would like to find is an 81-87 chev/GMC fullsize reg cab longbox (dont want to kill a short box lol) 4x4 1/2 or 3/4 ton paint faded/rough, rust dont matter (i'm going to paint it flat black with a brush for easy fixes) pull out carpets/ and anything that will be wrecked by water or mud except dash and seat and so i can hose it out (bedliner floor prob) block lift a couple inches (what is the correct/cheap way to lift the front of these trucks? i know blocks are bad) meaty tires (cheap tho, like RoughRider M+S (from canadian tire) for an all out beater that i can cover in 6 inches of mud and leave it lol, i will be parking it somewhere other than my driveway (dad will kill me if i get the driveway all mud lol) forest pinstriping will be no worry, dents, whatever! how much should I expect to pay for such a rig, and where is gonan be agood place to find one? thanks!

Use add a leafs to lift it cheap. Will give you a rough ride though. I have found the best place to find beater trucks is in fields. So take a ride in the country and look out by the barns or the wood line. They usually have something easy wrong with them and they drag em out with a tractor and leave em to rot.

depends on what you want really. i would avoid 1/2 ton trucks at all costs. overdrive trannys and 10 bolt rear axles are not a good idea for a truck whose purpose is to be beaten within an inch of its life.

icic, i figure 31s, terrain will be trails, hillclimbs, mudbogs, fuel milage is no concern, i will prob only drive it once or twice a week, just a toy that i can go places i dont want to bring my DD into. Def agree on the 3/4 ton deal tho... alot tougher

I've got an '87 longbed 4x4 for sale. It's not a beater though. The body is straight and the paint is good. It has about an '83 or '84 305 with a rebuilt automatic. New a/c and rear brakes, plus the tires are good. It's all stock. The dash pad is cracked and the paint has a few small chips, but overall, it's in pretty good shape. I want to get $5000 for it.
