88- up springs on 73-81 trucks?
I have a 76 stepside, I lowered it 5/5 and it looks *****en. I used it to tow a car with my trailer friday and noticed even with a weight distributing hitch the thing is on the snubbers. Now if I decide to raise it back up a little can I use springs from an 88 and up 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck? can I use the front springs too? could I mix and match and use the 88-up overload spring?

no, and no. front susp is VERY different, and the rear springs on the 88+ are almost a foot longer than the longest(56"?) springs on the 73-87's. i just measured the other day cause i have a set of 80 1 ton hd springs that would have been nice to put on my 88 chassis.

56" springs for the 73-87 heavy duty 1/2 ton + trucks, and 63" springs for the 88+ across the board.

I had the same problem with my axle flipped (5") in the back. I used the air shocks that Monroe makes and it works out perfect. They lift the back about 1". I leave about 40lbs. in them normally and the ride quality is much better than before.

ABS may be a problem with swapping in the 60. is the WMS to WMS measurement on both axles close?
