Turn Signal Mechanical Replacement
Once you have the steering wheel off and the cam assembly loose. To remove the wires that run down the underside of the column, does the metal cover slide off or should you bend the tabs?

The metal cover will slide off if you have the rubber trim out of the way.

I just made one nice column out of three average ones. I had to bend the tabs on all three to remove that cover.

Don't bend the tabs. I wouldn't. They'd break I bet (at least with me).
Be patient with this. You'll have to work the slide down past (through) the rubber boot, or you could see if it will work up through the shift housing if its an automatic. Mine is, and I think there's enough room, but you'll have to take the indicator housing off the column and just leave the shaft and the shifter housing. Since the shifter housing doesn't tightly fit around the shaft you whould be able to fit the sliding cover up through the housing. ------------------ '69 3/4 ton C20 2wd w/ 350ci/400THM and a wood bed! It is never a good idea to bend metal like this, thus the reason for the question. I was having trouble removing the piece from the top. I will try to slip it out the bottom tonight.
Thanks
