69 Big Block Towers

Anyone know why the holes in the towers are so large? and can you take out the 2 piece driveshaft and install a 1 piece. Does anyone make a conversion ?

Exclamation Large Hole in Big Block motor mounts

The hole is large because the motor mount is 2 piece. The part that bolts to the block is similar to small block mount except it has a threaded hole right in the middle of it. There is a smaller mount that goes on the other side of the steel bracket & I believe it has a steel sleeve in it that passes through that big hole & up against the other half of mount. Then there is a large bolt that that bolts the whole works together sandwiching the steel frame bracket in between. I hope this is clear enough.
