Ignition removal help
I need to replace my ignition switch my first question is how do I remove it,I don't have the key but can turn it on with a screwdriver(I keep my title in the glove box beacause I can imagine what will happen if a police cruiser rolls up on me jaming a screwdriver in the ignition )next is do I have to worry about putting the steering wheel on"crooked"or does it go on only one way(idiot proof).
I've never done this before. Thanks Last edited by rusted75 half ton; 04-07-2005 at 01:53 PM. |

Yes, it is possible to put the wheel on crooked. Just mark the base of the wheel / top of the column before you pull the wheel, and don't rotate the shaft after that
Keep an eye on where everything came, its not a difficult task, but there are a lot of little parts and peices that you can loose, or not put back in correctly Rebuilding my steering column was the very first thing I did on my GMC

I used this when I replaced my tumbler, turn signal switch, and lever. It is newer than yours, but it might be helpful. Slonaker Last edited by Slonaker; 04-07-2005 at 02:34 PM. |
