Difference b/t 50 series and 60 series tires?

I'm doing a 4/6 drop I have 17 inch wheels that came with 235/50's on them. They are in prett good shape so I want to use them. I wanted to go with 275/50's like most of the guys here I see with at 4/6 drop. I have an opportunity to get some 275/60's I wanted to know the difference it will make. I will eventually go with 255 up front, but I didn't want to waste these 235's.

thanks

Are they 235's or 275's? (the one's you're thinking about)

They are 275's-they are for the rear. I was going to try to run the 2 best 235's that I already have on the front and then get 275's for the rear.

Yellow, I've got a similar dilemma. Here's what I've come up with so far.

Combo 1: F-255/50/17 (27"T) , R-275/50/17 (28"T)

Combo 2: F-255/60/17 (29"T) , R-275/60/17 (30"T)

IMHO, Combo 1 looks good and is commonly used by members on this board with a 4/6 drop. Combo 2 gives much more wheel house fill and is what ECE recommended to me. Take a look at ECE'e Project 68 pics to see combo2. However, their drop is 4.5/4. They assured me that I wouyld have no interference problems with a 4/6 and the proper BS. Combo 2 doesn't give the same visual "dropped" apperance as combo 1.

So the 60 series will fill the wheel well more? I know the 60 series are a little cheaper and easier to come by.

235/50's sound to me as if they'd have REALLY short sidewalls. I have 235/60/15's on the front of mine with 295/50/15's out back. The sidewall height is almost identical, with the rear being only slightly taller.

275/60's are very popular on these trucks and usually quite affordable. I had those on mine when I bought it, one at each corner...but wanted a different look. Also, they rubbed just a tad up front with the drop I have.

Most major tire retailers have a fitment/size chart on their web sites.

Tires are sized by what is called an aspect ratio. For example 295/50/15 is broken down to 295 millimeters wide and is 50% as tall as it is wide. Therefore the sidewall height would be 147.5 millimeters high I am not sure what that works out to in inches because I cannot find my conversion chart.

True, with 15" wheels, but he's talking 17" wheels here. The 17" tires are not as common and much more expensive than 15's.

A 235/50/17 tire is only 26.3" tall and will likely look a bit small, especially in the rear.

I'm only putting the 235/50's up front at first because I already have 3 good ones out of my four tires. I really am trying to figure out what to put on the rear.

Lamer, nice truck. Are those TT2's? Is the bottom pic a photoshop or actual drop?
