First time using a sand blasting cabinet..WOW!
My base has an auto hobby shop where you can rent tool, bays, etc etc. I'm changing out my engine so I figured I'd carry 'em up and try out the blasting cabinet... kick a$$! It cost me $5 and an hour of my time to get these results, now I just got get 'em painted. For these parts is just a good heat rated rattle can paint ok?

Don't really have to use hi-temp paint, just a good enamel. That's real convenient having a blast cabinet at your auto hobby shop. Wish they had blasting equip where I was stationed. The Navy base I currently work at has almost "child proofed" everything in the hobby shops and has so many rules you can't even fart without holding a certification and signing a waiver.

I have always had good luck using PlastiCoat Engine Enamel, it holds up well, with a nice gloss to it and most auto stores and walmart carry it....jt

You can use just about any spray paint to paint your stuff. I'm going to experiment with some primer too to see if that works better than just painting the metal, albeit I haven't had any problems just painting the metal.
Just a note of caution though, don't handle the bare parts with your hands after blasting. The moisture in your skin will make the parts start to rust really quick. You may also want to wipe the parts down with a clean rag before painting to remove any bead dust before you paint. We've got a cabinet about the size of a VW bug at my plant. I fit my front fenders and a rear axle housing in that sucker without any problems!! |

DUPLICOLOR.
Or, at least, that's what the guys on TruckTV recommended in the recent show that covered how to paint and clean up your engine ...
