Dash cluster switch

Anyone here change from one cluster to another. I have the 3 hole cluster idiot lights and the P.O drilled holes for mechanical water, oil ,amps and clock. How big of a pain is it to switch to a stock gauge cluster. With oil, amps, and water temp, Thanks for any advice

Not too hard to do. BUT....be sure you visit GMC Paul's site first and get the schematic for the wires in the connector. If you unplug the idiot light cluster and plug in the gauge one, YOU WILL FRY a few things. You must swap a few wires around first. No big deal, but it MUST be done before hand!!

Here is the link....

Just scroll down a few lines to see the information.

I did the swap a few weeks ago. A great trick is to take a very small allen key to force the metal "barb" to release the wire in the loom. Pull it out and push it back into the loom in the new position. No wire splicing this way. I have a couple of extra guage dash looms with pig tails, if you need one.

Are you looking for the kit? You can get the kit from Durange design on eaby, that's where I get mine from.Randy

I can vouch for the burned up int panel parts if you try to just plug it in.
My buddy about wet himself he was laughing so hard when my fuel guage needle started doing laps, and my high beam indicator was blinking with my turnsignal and other crazy things like that.
I guess looking back, it was kinda funny. this was before i discovered there was good stuff like this site on the internet.
This is the overlay byrd was refering to. This is my longhorn on it's first day of freedom....which was also the day before I blew the engine.

If you do this, paint the gyage face with gloss white before you put the overlay on. This will prevent the black from showing around the edges of the overlay. I recomend them too...it isn't the best quality in print...but, it is very do-able and only you will ever notice it's short comings.
