esc

Can anyone tell me wat esc mean it says Electronic Spark Control. I dont know what the heck that means and i think it has to with the ignition.

Any feedback would be great

The ESC is the module on the back of the ECM that controls ignition retard in case of detonation. If you have a computer controlled ignition the ECM controls the timing curve, the ignition module has an Electronic Spark Timing circuit (EST) incorporated, the ECM determines the ignition timing and "tells" the EST to advance or retard timing. Advance is determined from a matrix stored on the prom. If the engine somehow sees detonation the knock sensor (which is basically a microphone) detects this, sends a signal to the ESC which signals the ECM to take out timing, usually 3 or 4 degrees every second until the knock is gone, then the ECM will advance timing again slowly

It's a pain in the ass part that will leave you on the side of the road if it ever goes out. However, it can be bypassed and done away with. I think there is an article of Jeff's site that covers the bypass procedure.

not to be mean but sounds like Einstein explaining the theory of relativity to a monkey (of course i will admit i am a monkey as well)
