WTB - Viking 40 1959
Still looking for fender spears in good shape for the Viking 40 tow truck. Also still keeping an eye out for a left side NOS fender or similar rust free. This truck takes the "big" fenders if you are not familiar with it. Thanks for any leads on reasonable parts.

Were they like the 56 Chevy 4400 truck fenders?

Viking Parts
The spears were similar, I'll have to get a pic and post it for the record. The fenders look similar, but I don't know about the interchange if any between 55,56,57, and the quad headlight 58, 59. I have seen similar but different fenders on school buses. I will post the truck pic and the spears for reference.

Fender Profile
The large trucks had a profile or swollen area above the wheel opening compared to the 1/2 tons. I'll do the pic again.

Fender Comparison
Extd56:
So they look similar, but are they. Then who knows. What about the core support and inner fenders. Seems like a crash book from 1960 might enlighten us on the interchange if any exists. I would like the 55-57 fender look, makes no real difference, but I did get a NOS right front, now to see about a left front, and the possibility of a better spear. Any information would be appreciated on fenders and running boards for the large trucks. Thanks for your help. LILREDGMC - VIKING 40 |

Viking 40 Tow Truck
1958 Viking 40 Manley 6 Ton Boom 42k or so on clock. Decent for its age. I have it in the shop and am working on stripping the paint and surface rust from roof and fenders to preserve the beast. The hood was stripped and acid etched two years ago and has held up excellent. Have a brake issue with the vacumn boost system. Need to take it off and get it and the master rebuilt. |

Fenders
EXT56
So do you think your fenders same as mine but 55-57 or? I can't quite pick it out if they are swollen or are more like 1/2 ton. Wondering about the interchange. |

The fenders are bigger in the wheelwell, that I know for sure. I will post a picture of the front end on Saturday when I return home. The radiator support looked to be the same as a 1/2 ton truck and it was in the V-8 position. I will also look at the inner fenders. I know the grill is different.
