A little progress today
Picked up the new wood for the flat bed dually..Roughed it in just to see how it is going to look...I think it will be nice when I finish..Have to get new S.S. bolts and washers....Not sure if I will be leaving it natural or painting it.....

I know Tim left his natural so it would weather. Then he's going to sand it down a bit this spring and stain it. Trying to go for the weathered look but still be protected from rot and the elements. Here is what it looked like in the fall

Another option would be to treat it with an oil finish. It brings out the grain of the wood and protects it too but leaves a natural looking finish. Unlike Urathane it won't ever crack, peel, chip or blister. It does have to be re-applied every so often depending on the elements.

Thats going to look great, how about some more info. What kind of wood is it?
Are you going to use Caraige head bolts? Are you counter sinking them? You'll have to keep us posted with more pics as you progress.

Douglas Fir - T.G....Lumber guy who knows his wood said it would be a good choice for out door application here in the beautiful wet ...N.W....Thinking of counter sinking the S.S. carriage head bolts.I was not going to put this much time and $$ into the flatbed dually, but had to strip off the old rotted bed. After that one thing leads to another and ...well I think you can all relate......
