Proportioning valve

What is the connector between the two lines on top of the unit for? I have seen a single wire running to it.

That's what I thought. Thanks. Was that only on 71-72? I don't remember seeing one on my 69.

67 - 70 had what looks like a proportioning vave, but it is just a distrabution valve. it doesn't restrict flow. it would however have the brown wire for the brake light.

What does the distribution valve do? Can it go bad?
