K-Model Lift/Tire/Wheel Fitment guide

It was suggested,and I agree,that we show what lift it takes to fit a given tire size on a given wheel on the 67-72 4wds.Anyone run 12.50/35x16 on 10x16s w/4"lift?I,m interested more in minimal lift than in a whole lot of wheel travel.I want to go off-road,but not extreme.

You need to separate lifts with fender trimming from lifts without.

Also, run 12.50s on 8" or 8.5" rims.

Let`s assume no trimming.I`ve run 14.50/37x16.5s with a 4"lift on a`71 with trimming.I`m sure alot of guys over here in the 4x4 section have no problem trimming fenders(or denting them,for that matter),but I`m more interested in what works with just the changes I`ve listed.Like the 2wd fitment guide,only going up not down.

Here was my truck when it had it's first lift, 4". The tires are 35x12.50x16 Super Swamper SSR's on 16"x8" rims. I'm sure it would have rubbed crossed up on a trail but no rubbing at all with on the road driving.



Here it is with the same wheels and tires but about 6" of lift.



And finally, about 10" of lift with same wheels and tires.

It seems you can get away with a 4"lift & 35s if you use 8"rims and don`t get too twisty.YukonJack,did you drop your transfer-case at any stage of lift?

Nope. The suspension lift is about 7 inches and angles are okay. Plus, the rear output on the Rockwell T221 is pretty low so that helps.

If you don't want to trim the fenders, I'd go with a 6" lift and 35x12.50 tire combo on 8 or 10 rims. With 4" of lift, you are probably going to have some rubbing if the wheel is cranked and your suspenion is compressed. If it is primarly a street truck, you can get away with 4" lift & 35's. My first K5 had that combo. My '69 has a 6" lift w/35s and my '72 has a ~4" lift with the stock 235/85R16 tires (about 31.5" tall - it looks a little anorexic.) The PO did a little trimming on the corners of the fenders on my '69, but it is very subtile.

Bouncytruck,that`s along the lines I was thinking.I have 35" X-terrains on 10s for my Highlander.It has a broken leaf on each side in the rear,so I`m getting the Tuff Country 6" spring(f & r)lift.I`m thinkig those leafs broke from the Add-A-Leafs added in old springs.I think the PO was hard on it,too.Your`72 is a real fine looking Blazer.I really like the look of 4" & 285/75x16s.That would help put a little meat on its bones.What cha think?
