*$@#! What just broke?

Coming home just 10 minutes ago, and the truck starts feeling a little funny. Had to give it more gas than normal to keep it crusing. Traffic slowed down, so I slowed down, and when I tried to go again, the engine revved fine, but the truck didn't really catch up. Now in my driveway, the idle doesn't drop when you put it into gear, like it usually does. Gotta really get on the gas to even get the truck to move.

Just feels like my tranny isn't doing anything, not hooking up. It's got plenty of fluid, just changed the filter and fluid a couple of months ago. Driveline is still attached.. any ideas on what I just blew?

Go check your fluid level first...otherwise, it's gonna be bad news.

most likely the high fluid level caused higher pressures in the tranny and caused it to get warm and then go out. You haven't overheated your engine at any time have you? That could cause it to go out also...... good luck. probably the damage is already done. Sounds like your having a good weekend like I am!

No.. engine runs nice and cool. I don't have a tranny cooler though, it's running through the stock connections in the radiator.

Well ****.

It's bearly overfilled, maybe 2mm above the full dot.

Is the vaccum hose connected to the tranny and up on top?

Yea, it's connected. Pan is awful hot, though I don't know if that caused whatever broke to break or if it's only hot because it's slipping so much now.

But whatever broke is broken. Suppose I'll drop the pan and take a look around the inside.

maybe it jumped time sounds like your giving it the gas ,but it does not want to go. is it cutting out or running smooth?

Nope, engine is running very well, just replaced the timing chain a few months ago anyway. Engine revs like hell, the truck just won't move. I dropped the tranny pan and filter, chunks of metal and other **** everywhere.. not cool.

Was there alot of metallic particles in the pan when you changed the fuild? Was the fuild really bad, when you changed it? Sometimes if the fuild goes a long time before changing it collects clutch material in the fuild. As the old fuild goes through the trans it keeps the worn clutch material grabbing. When you changed the fuild, you removed the last of the material that was keeping the clutches grabbing. Sorry.

Bummer, was hopin it'd be a cheap fix.
When the tranny is over filled, it causes foaming and that is just as bad as not enought oil. THe air bubles get passed through the valve body and momentarily the clutch packs go with no oil.
Not good.

Fluid was good the last time I changed it, but it's full of stuff now.

Oh well, I'll be making calls to tranny shops in the morning. Thanks again, all.
