Underside hood color

What color should the underside of my hood be? It's black now. I think that's the primer. The truck will be green and white. The truck was green and white from the factory.

It depends on the style you are goign with. Stock ? Flat black. If you are going to tweek other areas on the truck I would paint it body colour. I did the underside of mine Torch red just like the outside.

Actually, weren't most of them body color? All of mine have been like that.
Although, every time this comes up, some one shows his stock hood witht he black underside and some assembly line markings.
just like anything else on these trucks, noting is definate.

Mine was flat black from the factory. I painted it body color (503 Lt. Green) so all the dirt would show up on it.

I am the third owner of my 70 and the under hood is painted body color.I have done a ton of sanding on the bedsides ,doors, fenders, etc.and am convinced this is the original paint. This is not to say they were all done this way cause I have seen several that were flat black.

While on the subject of the underneath of the hood, what is the material between the reinforcment and the sheet metal? Mine is pretty much gone, and what is left is brittle and crumbling. Is there replacement stuff availible, or could a guy use some good poly urethane caulk or something?

Body color looks best to me. Especially if the firewall is the body color too.
