i am new to the rebuilding of trucks & i am a new member to this site. i am looking at buying & selling. i am wondering if you guys & gals can give ideas of how you shipped things in the past??? i have never shipped anything before & so i am looking for how packaged & how things can be shipped. thank you all for your support!!!

Depends on what your sending?

I usually get a box the exact size or to big and cut it to fit.
Fill with news paper or packing peanuts
tape all seams
and send it off.

Once I had to ship a bumper and called a packing store and they said bring it in.
They helped me box it and stuff. Was a little more but a lot less PIA.

Depending on the item, you can use UPS, USPS, CDW, FEDEX, or for the larger items, Viking, Greyhound, etc.

Are you looking at shipping large or small items?
How far, inside or outside the US?

It all kinda depends, but if we can help with the particulars let us know.

I use the good ole USPS to ship 99% of the items I sell. I save the packing peanuts & other forms of packing material from items I buy and reuse it

If I am not sure how much to charge to ship an item, I package it up and take it in to get an estimate to ship to California (I'm at the post office at least once a week for one thing or another already).

Also, if you are unsure how much to ask, check the completed auctions on ebay.com for items like yours, that is a good gauge.

You can get a UPS estimate at UPS.com. Just need weight, dimensions and a zip code.

i'm old i'm lazy if it's smaller than a breadbox and weighs less than 20lbs i'll put it in a box and go to the ups store. anything else come pick it up

You can get estimates on line from USPS, UPS, Fedex and Greyhound express.

Small, lighter items always go cheaper through USPS. Heavier items are best through UPS or Fedex. Very large items can go Greyhound. Really heavy and large items have to go truck frieght but be ready to PAY for that.

I just shipped 2 bucket seats from Pennsylvania to Washington for $76.05 with Greyhound express. I checked a trucking company and those same seats would have cost $255 to ship.

thanks guys you all are sooo much help!!! i would never have thought that greyhound would do that. this is the coolest site i have seen so far. i am in the process of rebuilding (hotroddin') my 72 chevy 2wd shortbox p/u. i am finding all kinds of usefull information on this web site. i am telling all my friends about this address!!! keep em coming!

bigger stuff you can go to freightquote.com and they will get quotes from all availlable carriers in your area for free!
