Wanna' trade rearends?

Wow, that sounds odd if you read it out loud.
Anyway...
I have a 6-lug rear end under my daily driver that has 3.73 gears. I am on the lookout for the same rear end with 3.07 gears.
Anyone want to trade rears. I do a ton of highway driving and don't need the lowend torque as much as I need cruising ability.

Rear has new wheel cylinders and brakes installed last year.

I've got a 6 lug rear from a 68 in the shop, I'll check tonight what the ratio is. I've also got a 6 lug supposedly from a 73 Blazer, that one is (by my calculations) 3.07 and is a gov lock diff.

Definately not practical to ship the whole axle, but I could pull the center chunk if interested. $50US plus shipping

Ron

Ron,
Thanks for the offer, but I am really looking for a complete rear that I can unbolt, swap, and re-connect.

it's a swb fleetside. i had a ton of pics on here but i think they were erased when josh rearranged the board. it has a good hood, pass. door, and driver fender. it also has a decent tailgate. the rest of the truck is pretty beat up.

Eric, I am probably gonna have mine out of my 70 in a week or two (swapping the five lug rear out of my parts truck) barring an unforeseen problem with the five lug rear end. If your are still looking I will holler at you when I get it out.

Krue, so you are going from 6 to 5 lug, right? Anyway, that sounds good. Let me know if you need a hand and I will drive down.

Hmmmmm. is that even possible? On the axle tubes themselves, how do they differ?

The perches for the spring mounts have to be swapped is all (I think). Requires a little welding skill. Putter I will try to check the rearend I am intending on swapping into my truck this weekend and make sure I can use it. I need cash more than I need another rearend, so I will try to come up with a fair price and let you know something.
