Hi, We just got a 85 K10 and the doors are very hard to shut. Both sides have to be slammed. I checked and the doors are not lined up right, they are hanging about 3/8" low at the striker end.....but I cound not lift up on the doors any, so the bushings seem OK. Can the hinges be adjusted to even out the gap? If so, do I have to remove the fenders. Thanks!

Well, it's been a while since I had my doors off, but if I remember correctly, "Yes" the hinges do have some adjustment. I believe the holes in the hinges are slotted.

If you try loosening the hinges, just remember that the top hinge has one bolt that is accessed from inside the cab, up behind the lower part of the dash. There is usually a rubber gromet in the hole, that has to be removed to get a socket in there.

I'm sure you'll get some other good advice, but that should give you some ideas.

i need to adjust my passenger door...people getting in and out of the backseat always lean on it and it is hanging too low

If the doors are lower at the striker end than at the hinge end, there is most likely a worn hinge pin or the hinge itself has been rounded out by the pin. The hinges and the striker bolt can be moved. If your door is not hanging straight it won't close right no matter how much you move these. If you do have bad pins you will have to cut them with a dremel tool or something similar to get them out.

your question has pretty much been answered so all i can say is good luck and if at all possible have a friend to help lift and hold door in place while you tighten bolts the doors are freakin heavy

these doors also have a tendency to tear out at the hinges. If your hinges are tight, that may be your problem.

Thanks, If the problem is the pins or bushings, shouldn't I be able to lift the door showing the slack in them? Because, I can't get any movement.
