Anybody used a unilite dist? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey gang,
I was in at the Charlotte show last week, and found a unilte, with a 'pensive coil, and an ignition box for a hundred bucks......I thought what the hell, so I bought it. Who's used one? Whose liked it, whose not...........and why?

put one on an oldsmobile motor about 15 yrs ago. Still know the owner. Only had to replace the lite module twice during this time. They run about 80 bucks apiece. No trouble other than that.

Steel Horse leather seats with console. My wife is gonna kill me.

i ran one about 15 years ago also. and also had a module go out. $95 and a 2 week wait for part from a speed shop. not many around in the area where i was living at the time. that is the drawback for me. since then i never use parts on a daily driver that cant be bought over the counter when needed.

There touchy, if you spike the voltage you can loose the light module. Magnetic is better

Thanks for your help on these. I agree with the magnetic statement. Checkout racesearch.com its a really kewl site with all the wiring diagrams, etc. I'm gonna' give it a shot and see what it does.
